Human Resources Manager

anzuk are working to support an Independent School who are searching for a Human Resources Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced leader who is passionate about HR. This is a permanent full-time role that will commence in Term 2/3, 2022. 

The Human Resources Manager will help identify workable solutions in employee relations matters, providing expert advice and guidance to the Senior Leadership Team and middle level managers on employee relations matters. The Human Resources Manager will be responsible for developing and contributing to innovative initiatives to foster strong staff engagement, a positive team environment and workplace culture.

The Human Resources Manager provides a full range of human resources generalist functions to management and staff at the School. The role acts in an advisory and interpretative role providing comprehensive professional advice, confidential direction and ongoing support around recruitment and selection, contract and employment administration, performance, grievance, management support and employee relations.

As well as providing advice, coaching and guiding others on a range of employment related matters, the Human Resources Manager maintains a specialist and comprehensive knowledge of the School’s policies and procedures, employment awards and agreements, legislation and contemporary human resources issues.

What you need to Succeed:

  • Support an industrial relations environment that promotes a positive culture and employee commitment and engagement in the workplace.
  • Develop a strong understanding of the industrial instruments under which the school operates.
  • Provide support to the Director of Human Resources on human resource and industrial relations issues, including the application of awards and other industrial agreements and employment and industrial relation matters.
  • Provide timely and professional advice to senior managers and staff, in interpreting and implementing human resource policies.
  • Conduct initial interviews with relevant managers as required and conduct reference checks as needed.
  • Develop and maintain an induction plan for Support and Operational staff and casual Support and Operational staff. 
  • Review and maintain up to date position description documentation for Support and Operational Staff.
  • Assess training needs and plan appropriate professional development activities for the Support and Operational Staff on Staff Professional Development Days.
  • Be a point of contact (in addition to the relevant department manager) for Support and Operational Staff to discuss their Professional Development needs and requirements.
  • Develop an annual performance appraisal/review process for Support and Operational Staff.
  • Act with integrity, honesty and always maintain professionalism.
  • Model behaviour which closely aligns with the school values.
  • Observe the strictest confidentiality of all information.
  • Be friendly, personable and a team player.
Essential Requirements:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a human resources management role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources management or equivalent.
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues.
  • Maintain a valid Working with Children Clearance.
  • Ability to supply two referees
